About

Owner and hostess, Amy Schumacher

I have always been surrounded by creative people and clever projects. My grandmother and mom were always making something growing up. Handmade quilts, sewn prom dresses, embroidery, cross-stitched art, or matching pillows and curtains were some of their projects. There was always a new project at her house. I quickly joined in by doing simple latch hook rugs, making pot holders, and collages. I was introduced to Creative Memories in 1995, and I was hooked. It clarified the activity I had been doing since I was a teenager, and gave me more sophisticated tools. I have met some awesome people at crops. There is something about getting together with friends and making something. It’s such an accomplishment. So it was natural for me to start a craft business. My husband and I designed and built Maple Brook Memories for women to step out of their busy lives and create, to reconnect with friends, and to recharge. Since 2011, I have witnessed guests doing just that. It’s a beautiful thing! We have had such a successful experience that we expanded in 2020 and added Maple Barn.

The Craft Room

Every guest has their own space to craft. If you pack light or bring everything but the kitchen sink you will be comfortable at your personal 5 foot table decked out with your own 18×24’’cutting mat, Ott light, and adjustable office chair.

Kitchen

Both properties give you full access to the kitchen to make your own meals. With cookware, utensils, and dishes for use while you stay, it is a great option for groups who don’t mind fixing their own food.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to go away and have your meals planned for you? There are food options available at both properties for an additional price when you start the booking process. These options are offered during certain seasons. Not sure? It’s okay. You can add it to your reservation later if you change your mind.

Maple Closet

The Maple Closet is filled with tools and products for your use and purchase and there is one in each location. There is a workbench for eyelet setting, stamping, punching, die cutting, etc. If you don’t feel like lugging your Big Shot® and Cricut®, ironing board or iron out of the house, you can just use ours. There are a variety of adhesives, paper, and embellishments for purchase. Don’t worry if you can’t find what you need, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn Fabrics are ten minutes away!
